I wrote this song about a one-night stand I didn't know was a one-night stand.

He was a DJ and producer who'd hired me through a friend to sing on one of his tracks. We spent time getting to know each other, went out to events together, built what I thought was a real connection. One night we were recording vocals for one of his songs, I did such a bang-up job that one thing led to another, and we slept together.

The second it was over, he was a different person than the one I'd been spending time with. He ghosted me after that. I found out later he had a partner he'd never mentioned.

The song poured out of me the next day. It's the only song I've ever written on banjo. I came up with the hook, recorded it on my phone, and played it on loop the whole way back to Mexico. Germán Arroyo produced it in San Miguel de Allende the day after I landed.
